Community Partners of Dallas is swapping things around. In the past it held its very successful Chick Lit Luncheon in the spring and its Change Is Good fun-for-families in the fall. But COVID-19 planted some seeds of change for CPD-ers. After having to postpone last year’s Chick Lit Luncheon to September, CPD President/CEO Paige McDaniel and Development and Communications VP Joanna Clarke started thinking about moving Chick Lit to the Fall there and holding Change in the spring.

It made perfect sense. Moving Change to the spring meant not having to dance around waiting for the Dallas Cowboys’ schedule to be announced for football-loving fans. So, they put their proverbial fundraising toe in the water and decided to hold the Change Is Good 2021 on Sunday, March 7.
According to Paige, “Typically in the fall, this year’s event will be held in the spring, and we are building upon the success of last year’s virtual event to make Change Is Good 2021 even bigger and better.”

In the past, families co-chaired the fun, and the upcoming one ain’t breaking with the tradition. The Sunday, March 7th virtual get-together is being co-chaired by Lynette and Nate Christensen with kids Elsie, Thomas and Luke and Brynn and Travis Dent with munchkin daughters Blake and Brooklyn. On board for the honorary co-chairs will be Emily and Nicholas Haddock and their kiddos Beatrice, Iris Anne and Stinson and Amy and Patrick McEvoy and their cuties Grace, Ford and Georgia.

Leading up to the big Sunday, kids will begin collecting change virtually by setting up a personalized page to send to friends, neighbors, grandparents and more for support. Each $10 raised online will get all change collectors a prize drawing ticket, with additional prize drawing tickets also available for purchase on the CPD website.
On Wednesday, February 24, CPD and Presenting Sponsor CrossFirst Bank will host a Change Delivery Day in the CPD parking lot (aka 7950 Elmbrook Drive) complete with treats for the kiddos.

When the big day comes, it will start off with participating families picking up supplies for the activities that start at 3 p.m. The drive-thru itself is a party looking like an adorable parade of parents, kids and pooches in decorated SUVs.
If you were part of last year’s virtual Change is Good, then you just know it was going to be so G-rated as in Great-rated. The drill for this second round will be an encore of the last one, with “participating families pre-purchasing a box that includes all the supplies for everyone’s favorite Change is Good activities, which will then be done at home during a fun, afternoon virtual event.”
Starting Friday, February 12, a limited number of $125 boxes will go on sale with supplies and t-shirts for up to four kids. Naturally, “additional supplies and shirts can be added for $20/child to accommodate larger families.”
And, of course, sponsorships starting at $350 bring along perks like a VIP event box with additional goodies.
Stay tuned for the t-shirt artwork contest, drawing ticket prizes and a slew of other deets, as well as other sponsorship opportunities.
