According to CitySquare donor/volunteer Lewise Crockett,
“I heard great things about CitySquare from my pastor, so I went to the website, contacted the volunteer manager and said, ‘Sign me up!’ I started as a volunteer in the Food Pantry and immediately fell in love with the CitySquare staff and the neighbors we serve. The sense of community truly opened my heart. Now, I’m learning more about all the poverty fighting programs. For anyone who listens, I tell them that CitySquare is an amazing, exciting place to support and serve.
“CitySquare began as a small food pantry over 30 years ago and has since grown into one of the largest poverty fighting organizations in Texas. One of the many ways CitySquare helps those in need is still through the Pantry. The CitySquare Food Pantry is much more than a food distribution center. Their goal is to provide healthy choices while alleviating hunger.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has created a crisis for so many. It is my understanding that nearly 40% of the people coming to the Food Pantry these days are there for the first time. The need is much greater than ever!
“My one wish is to see the CitySquare Food Pantry fully stocked for the holidays.
“Donations may be mailed to CitySquare, P.O. Box 140024, Dallas, TX 75214, made through the website at CitySquare.org., or by contacting Abbie Kauffman at 214.675.4339.”
