What a week! A Halloween for the record books, the restoration of spring’s lost hour and a seemingly never-ending Presidential election. If you’re in need of mental relief, here are somevirtual fundraising events this weekend that you can attend in your comfy clothes.

6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7 — Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation’s Yellow And Black Gala has adjusted its name this year to Yellow And Black Tee Gala.
In addition to live and silent auctions, a virtual photo both, the presentation of the Legacy Award to Perkins and Will and an after-party virtual magic show, there will be “a story about a COVID-19 James Turner, who was on a ventilator for more than 50 days and survived.”
It may be too late to sign up for a Gala-In-A-Box designed by Dr Delphinium and Events that includes a commemorative T-shirt, champagne and beverage, bar set, drink recipe, play cards and a meal created by James Beard Award nominee/Homewood Restaurant Chef Matt McCallister and James Beard Award nominee Pastry Chef Maggie Huff.

6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8 — Wesley-Rankin Community Center’s A Taste Of West Dallas Co-Chairs Julie and Duston Burns and Rita and Cleve Clinton have arranged to not only provide funds for Wesley-Rankin, but to help the community’s hard-hit restaurants by having West Dallas chefs and restaurateurs (3015 at Trinity Groves with Chef Sharon Van Meter, Steam Theory Brewing Company, Saint Rocco’s at Trinity Grove, Locura Dallas and Frida’s Tacos) showcase via video their established as well as their more popular dishes.
Guests will be emailed a link to the video that will be “spiced up by updates from Wesley-Rankin” until Tuesday, December 1.
According to Julie, “Usually an event raises funds to support its own organization, yet we took this a step further in working with participating restaurants to increases exposure for them as well.”
Another highlight will be the prize drawing that will be held when the video goes live for valuable prizes.
Starting at $50 per person, tickets will include perks including a Reward card that will “provide a ‘free item(s) with purchase’ or discount to use at the time of the guest’s choosing.”

Now thru midnight on Sunday, November 8 — And, of course, if you’re not all fired up to virtually party, you can always shop until you drop thanks to the final days of The Family Place’s 2020 Partners Card.
