According to Wildlife On The Move President/Program Presenter Eric Brittingham,
North Texas Giving Day has been the driving force and main fundraising campaign that has provided additional annual support to their Animal Care Fund and Live Animal Educational Programming that has reached an audience of 435,000 people and traversed more than 150,000 miles. Over the past 5 years of participation in giving day and encouraging the community to get up, go wild and give, Wildlife On The Move has been gifted over $10,000 in supplemental funding that has enabled the organization to purchase much needed air-conditioning units for their critter compound, build new animal enclosures, and stock-up on necessary food, equipment, and animal husbandry supplies to sustain the 50 Animal Ambassadors in their care beyond their annual budget, as well as provide deep discounts and special rates for their Live Animal Educational Presentations in order to “Bring Science to Life” for underserved and under-resourced audiences.
Despite the challenges and effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and losing over $15,000 in life-sustaining revenue from a large majority of their Live Animal Educational Presentations being canceled due to the crisis we are all facing, Wildlife On The Move has continued to care for discarded, abandoned, and rescued animals like “Rufus” and “Rascal” – the Virginia opossum brothers that lost their mom due to an unfortunate encounter with a car, “Hatari” – the African spurred tortoise that was found wandering a DFW neighborhood, and “Lemony” – the Burmese python that was living in a dog crate through the kind and generous support of the community through their monetary donations and participation in North Texas Giving Day.
Wildlife On The Move wholeheartedly believes that it is not only important to care for wildlife in need, but it is equally important that people of all ages, students through adults remain connected to nature and go wild for learning even during these challenging times we face, so they have remained committed to continuing their 15 year legacy of “Bringing Science to Life” for Schools, Home School Groups, Daycares, Libraries, Festivals, Churches, Scouts, Camps, Organizations, Television, and Corporate Events even during the pandemic by pivoting to Goin’ Wild Video Ventures and Live Animal Online Streamed Events and will only be able to continue this mission, expand their reach, and sustain their Animal Ambassador’s care for so long without the direct support and kind donations from the community through their commitment, participation, and gracious gifts in honor of their 15 Year Anniversary, so in order to further support the Animal Care Fund and Live Animal Educational Programming, Wildlife On The Move is kicking off a special giving campaign this year entitled #15BUCKSfor15YEARS, so please get up, go wild and give on North Texas Giving Day!
