What does one say when the hostess no-shows for a private reception at her home? Well, if she’s celebrating the return of her son from the military, you salute her for having her priorities in the right order.
On Thursday, May 2, the lady in question was Mary Clare Finney. After hosting a couple of weeks during the past week including the Crystal Charity Ball theme announcement, she had wanted to quietly celebrate son Ford Finney’s being on leave from active duty with the Air Force in Idaho.
No problem for the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show. With Event Chair Elizabeth Gambrell and Honorary Chair Jacqueline Fojtasek, the evening carried on.
Starting in Mary Clare’s fabulous backyard, timing couldn’t have more perfect. The spring drizzle held back until the guests like Women’s Auxiliary Founder Margot Perot, Betsy Waggoner, Carol Seay, Joyce Fox, Anne and Bernie Di Fioro, Tucker Enthoven and Marilyn Augur with her daughters Margaret Hancock and Elizabeth Taylor moved into the family room to hear about the plans for The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary’s annual fundraiser for the The Salvation Army DFW.
A standout in the crowd was Elizabeth, who was wearing a dress that she had previously donated to the sales and bought back.
Regarding the move to the Winspear on Tuesday, May 7, Elizabeth declared it was ideal thanks to the Opera House’s red-and-white and the Army’s colors.
