It’s true that membership has perks. And for the Les Femmes du Monde ladies, it meant having the organization’s Spring Tea at Lisa and Clay Cooley‘s spread on Wednesday, February 13. In addition to learning of Les Femmes President Martha C. Cox‘s executive team, the ladies also learned great news from one of its recipients. Here’s a report from the field:
The Les Femmes du Monde (LFDM) Spring Tea was generously hosted by Lisa Cooley in her Preston Hollow home showcasing flowers galore celebrating all things spring!

Les Femmes du Monde President Martha C. Cox welcomed guests, along with Board Secretary Rhonda Sargent Chambers and LFDM Board Director of Finance/2019 Woman of the Year Chair Anne Sutherland . Membership Chair Sharon Knowles checked in guests and reminded them this is the beginning of the new year for the organization, which means renewing memberships! Other members of the 2019 team include Treasurer Brenda Truitt, Advisor-at-Large Jan Ward and Parliamentarian Venise Stuart.
The dining room was set with tall luscious blooms and formal afternoon tea with silver service of delicious sandwiches, desserts and small bites. Guests like Arlene Johnson, Nancy Walker, Marty Williams, Karen Lukin and Regina Bruce also enjoyed tea and champagne throughout the event.

During the program, Martha welcomed everyone and presented Lisa with a lovely hostess gift. She also introduced members of the two organizations who benefit from Les Femmes’ events: Kyra Barnett from The Child Life Program at Children’s HealthSM Children’s Medical Center and Kate Daniels representing the Global Young Leaders Program of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Kate reported that just the day before “Plano Independent School District maintained its grip on the World Affairs Council’s regional PwC Academic WorldQuest crown, with Jasper High School defeating 81 other North Texas high school teams. The Jasper High School team of Adithya Karthik, Pranav Pattatathunaduvil, Michelle Ma and Renee Li was coached by Khadeeja Miandara. The team’s next step will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Carlos and Malu Alvarez Academic WorldQuest National Competition on Saturday, April 27, at the United States Institute of Peace. A Plano team has won the national title six out of the past eight years. Finishing in second and third place at the regional competition were Allen High School and Plano West Senior High.”
