When Kirsa Williams signed up to be a Dec My Room volunteer at Children’s Medical Center, she had no idea that she was laying the groundwork for her own family. In helping to “create a healing place” for young patients having to stay for prolonged amounts of time, she was like any volunteer. Kirsa just wanted to help, with no plan of being the recipient of the work.
But then her son Bennett Williams developed medical conditions that required a long hospital stay. And Kirsa saw first-hand how Dec My Room had made a difference for Bennett and the whole family. Upon his arrival, his room had been personalized with items that complemented his special likes and interests.
On Wednesday, April 17, Bennett will receive the 2019 Celebrate Flight Award at the Third Annual Room To Grow Luncheon and Fashion Show in the NorthPark’s Neiman Marcus Courtyard.

In addition to Bennett’s being recognized, Room To Grow Luncheon and Fashion Show Co-Chairs Kristi Bare and Nancy Gopez along with NorthPark Chair Kristen Gibbins have also arranged to have NorthPark’s Fashion and Lifestyle Ambassador Kimberly Schlegel Whitman and NBC-5 Evening Anchor Meredith Land to present the trending colors of spring fashion from NM NorthPark.

Following the reception, luncheon, fashion presentation and Bennett’s receiving the award, guests will enjoy “bubbles and sweets on Level Two of Neiman Marcus.”
According to Dec My Room Dallas Executive Director Karen Michlewicz, “We know it will be a fabulous day of fashion and fundraising in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Neiman Marcus Courtyard. We are also honored to present Bennett with the Celebrate Flight Award. Through the funds raised from the luncheon, we will be able to create healing spaces for more children who have extended stays in the hospital like Bennett.”
Tickets start at $175 with sponsorships beginning at $500. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dallas Chapter of Dec My Room.
