From Dallas United Crew Board Member Lisa Miller,
“Our vision is now a reality. After years of loading and unloading boats from trailers in a bumpy gravel parking lot, we now have a roof over our boats and a fully-paved, ADA-compliant concrete parking lot to serve the community with rowing and dragon boating programs for people of all ages and abilities.
“North Texas Giving Day has been our primary fundraising effort for the last five years, raising over $200,000 to date! Yet, it was the 2016 NTXGiving Day Campaign that changed the trajectory of our program. We leveraged the best practices offered by Communities Foundation of Texas and launched our largest and most successful campaign in program history. We went from $9,000 raised in 2015 to $90,000 in 2016, which set the stage to meet our goal to build a better facility to serve the community. And, our success keeps going with our 2018 NTXGiving Day Campaign raising $81,000!
“We celebrated the dedication of the boathouse at White Rock Lake with city dignitaries and community leaders in attendance to help with the ribbon cutting and to acknowledge the strong partnerships and positive impact of the program.
“DUC’s spring season registration is open and programs begin in early January. DUC offers recreational and competitive rowing programs for people of all ages and abilities, including middle school, high school, masters’ adult and adaptive veterans. Visit dallasunitedcrew.org for more information.
“Thank you #NTXGivingDay for providing a fundraising platform that, when combined with persistence and a good story, really does help make dreams come true.”
