As Dallas CASA‘s 2018 Parade of Playhouses was winding down at NorthPark, a closing party was held at Design Within Reach on Thursday, July 12. The crowd included everyone from sponsors like Crest Cadillac/Infiniti/Volvo’s Mike Brosin to builders like Capstone Classic Constructions’ Debbie and Tim Guedry, You Dream It We Build It’s Sherry and Patrick Jackson, Security Shutters and Screens’ Kristy and Rory Wassenaar, OmniPlan’s Mike Hellinghausen and LRO Residential’s Kristi and Les Owens. And, of course, there were loads of things to do and tasties provided by Dunia Borgia. Here’s a report from the field:
Even with the storm passing over Dallas, our builders, architects and sponsors were out in force to celebrate Parade of Playhouses at The Closing Party. This year’s event was hosted at the modern design showroom, Design Within Reach at NorthPark Center. More than 150 guests enjoyed sweets on a spoon, shared by Duni Borgia and her son Brandon. Inside the party there were hors d’oeuvres and drinks before guests made their way to a wine pull with some amazing bottles to win including a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. The wine pull had dozens of great bottles with fancy French wines and coveted bottles from Napa including Frank Family, Chappellet and Hall Cabernets. It was a great way to donate $20 to Dallas CASA and leave happy!
This year a very special bottle of 2010 Harland Estate Napa Valley Proprietary Red was donated by one of our board members. It retails for around $975 – that is if you can get on the list for a chance to purchase one! One lucky, lucky winner was able to win this special bottle for a $25 raffle ticket. The winner had already left the party when we drew his winning ticket, so there is always the tiny chance he’ll pass on it and we’ll all have another opportunity!
Closing Party Co-Chair Dave Kroencke reminded everyone why we were together and thanked our generous builders and sponsors for the amazing playhouses placed throughout NorthPark Center and at Dallas CASA. Dave was the one long ago, who suggested we host a playhouse event and helped give Parade of Playhouses its start.
Some of the board members in attendance included event presenting sponsor and builder, Mike Brosin of Crest Cadillac/Infiniti/Volvo with his son Caleb Brosin and Olivia Bailey. Mike’s beautiful wife Jana Brosin had to stay home with a sore foot and an ice pack.
Others included Fran and Mark Berg, Pricilla and Corey Anthony, Suzanne and John Gibson, Hannah and Greg May, Kay and Bob Schleckser and Linda and Rob Swartz (who just welcomed a new grandson, Elliott).
