The good news is that the Dallas Museum of Art’s “International Pop” opening reception on Wednesday, October 7, is a “Go!” Guests will get “a first look at the exhibition’s iconic masterpieces” and are encouraged to wear “neon” to “throwback” attire.
There will be a 16-foot-long, light-bright photo booth and DJ S.O.U.L.A.H. and DJ Justin Bell providing the tunes. For those arriving in a Mini Cooper, they’ll get priority parking. The reason? Mini Cooper is the event sponsor.
The even better news is that unlike times past when an opening reception was limited to DMA members, they’re opening this one for the public. You’re waiting for a catch. Ah, you’re thinking that those tickets will be in the healthy three-figure range. Sorry, but don’t buy any lottery tickets today. The tickets are going for a measly $30. Yup, three sawbucks!
Now for a bit of downer news. Originally announced that Jacqueline Buckingham Anderson would be hosting the party that status changed with the announcement of her husband/former DMA Eugene McDermott Director Max Anderson taking a new job in New York City. Darn! Just betcha she had picked out a head-turning neon outfit for the party. Now, she’s having to move the Anderson household north for winter in the Big Apple.
BTW, the exhibition doesn’t officially open until Sunday, October 11, and will require “a $16 special exhibition ticket.”
