Some folks think the Blondes vs. Brunettes Dallas (BvB Dallas) only brighten up during the warmer months. So very wrong! Instead of hibernating in the winter months, they’re scurrying around with plans for the coming fundraising activities to fight Alzheimer’s.

The BvB Dallas just sent word that due to the success of its seven years in raising nearly two million dollars, they’ve hired an executive director — Shelley Tims!
In addition to having experience in the nonprofit sector, Shelley also has a personal grudge against Alzheimer’s. In 2012 her mother Kathy Tims was diagnosed “with frontal dementia and possible early onset Alzheimer’s.” Unfortunately, the signs had been around for years before but had not been diagnosed. Shelley and her dad, Lamar Tims, “pledged an ongoing commitment to the Center for BrainHealth for what they have deemed the Initiative for Early Discovery, starting with a $50,000 donation to help families who will find themselves in a similar situation. The initiative takes a three-pronged approach to improve quality of life after diagnosis and raise awareness about the signs of dementia.”
According to BvB Dallas President of the Dallas Board of Directors Jennifer Bergman, “We are thrilled to welcome Shelley Tims to BvB Dallas. With her experience in sponsor and donor relations, as well as event and volunteer management, we have every confidence that she will increase our annual fundraising total and community awareness.”
Speaking of experience, Shelley previously served as Director of Community Advancement for the Arthritis Foundation, where she “oversaw the North Texas Arthritis Walk, Bone Bash and Salon Series.”
In her new role, she’ll “will work in close collaboration with the BvB Dallas Board of Directors, oversee and manage sponsorships, research grants, team-oriented fundraising activities and over 250 volunteers and participants,” plus “focus on generating revenue in support of the mission of BvB Dallas and expand signature events for the organization, including the BvB Dallas Powder Puff Football game, throughout the year.”
BTW, here are some date to mark your calendars:
- Veterans players and coaches can start registering on Monday, March 23,
- New-kids-on-the-block (aka rookies) can sign up starting Monday, April 6.
- The 8th annual BvB Dallas Powder-Puff Football Game will take place at Fair Park’s Cotton Bowl on Saturday, August 8.
Wanna bet they pass the $2M mark this year?
