Volunteering knows not physical boundaries. And, of course, an example is demanded. Donna Arp Weitzman for instance. While she may be residing with husband Herb in Dallas and a bona fide Mavericks booster, she has been the mayor of Colleyville, president of Encore Capital and served on 30 nonprofit boards.
Those volunteering endeavors have reached throughout North Texas earning her the President George W. Bush National Volunteer Award.
She’ll be adding to her trophy collection on Wednesday, October 8, when she joins the Junior League of Fort Worth and the Texas Jewish Post in receiving the Volunteer Center of North Texas’ 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Omni Fort Worth.
The breakfast recognizing “those who have been dedicated to making a significant difference in the lives of North Texas” will be the first Big Hearts of Fort Worth Awards Breakfasts.
According to Volunteer Center CEO Tammy Richards, “The Volunteer Center is proud to serve numerous important nonprofit partners in Fort Worth, and we want to express our appreciation to some of the people and groups in the city who share our passion and commitment. The people we are honoring are committed to the mission of volunteering and strengthening the Fort Worth community through the arts, human service, education and health. These honorees have hearts as big as Texas.”
