The Community Partners of Dallas 25 Hour Impact is in full swing. More than 200 volunteers from ORIX, the Junior League of Dallas and other organizations are packing and unpacking all types of stuff. The staff and volunteers are all geared up for the next 21 hours.
Even Gigi the CPD mascot is all dolled up for the celebration. If you drop by tonight, don’t be surprised to see them in the jammies.
If there’s a shortage of helium in the area, it’s because of all the balloons that are sprouting up at CPD.
The Rainbow Room is filled marvelously with all types of clothes, toys and necessities. If you’ve never been there, you’ve missed the most wonderful treasure trove of children’s clothes, toys and “stuff.” Someone asked by the price tags are still on the items. It’s because some of the children have never ever had something new, so the price tag proves it brand spanking new. Another question that was raised was, “Do the children get to come in pick what they want?” No. It’s the caseworkers, who do the selection because they know exactly what the children need, whether it’s clean clothes, shampoo, diapers, sippy cups or just a cuddly stuff toy to hold on to.
Director of Development/Energizer Bunny Rabbit Joanna Clarke confessed that the 25th anniversary goal is two-fold: raise money and awareness.
So, bring a friend to the celebration and spread the word that CPD is one of the first steps to a new life for children, who have been rescued from precarious situations.
BTW, you don’t have to RSVP for the hearty party that takes place Saturday at 11 a.m. complete with food trucks like Ruthie’s Food Trucks. Just show up at 1215 Skiles Street! Mother Nature has even promised to be on her very bestest behavior.
