According to Arthritis Foundation South Central Region CEO Susan Carter,
“This time of year, many of you probably spend time with your families snuggled around the fireplace, gathered in the kitchen preparing holiday meals or outdoors enjoying winter fun. However, some of your family members and dear friends might be silently suffering with the pain of arthritis this season. The simple act of wrapping a gift or rolling cookie dough is sometimes too painful for someone with arthritis.
“This year, my wish is to fund critical research that will bring us closer to finding a cure for arthritis and provide more life-altering programs to help the one million North Texans living with arthritis manage their pain.
“Please consider making a year-end, tax-deductible gift today to the Arthritis Foundation and impact people living in pain in your community. You gift will provide special programs and initiatives like:
- “Camps to build confidence: Children with juvenile arthritis face certain challenges other kids their age do not. Rock climbing or horseback riding with leg braces is not unique for these kids, but rather an understood part of daily life. At camp, kids meet others facing similar challenges, which helps to boost their confidence and self-sufficiency.
- “Research to find a cure: Ground-breaking research like a multi-institutional osteoarthritis grant that studies ACL tears in the knee could lead to methods that would prevent osteoarthritis from occurring post-injury.
- “Education to improve lives: Knowledge helps arthritis sufferers gain more control over their disease. This includes diet and exercise tips to help manage pain, the most current drug and treatment information, and guidance in navigating the healthcare system.
- “Exercise programs to manage pain: Physical activity is proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness in people with arthritis. Classes include aquatics, Tai Chi, land exercises and walking.
Your donation is deeply appreciated by everyone living with the daily pain of arthritis. And because it affects people of all ages, shapes and sizes, chances are someone close to you is impacted by this debilitating disease.
“Please make your year-end, tax-deductible gift to the Arthritis Foundation today.
“We are so very grateful for your support. Thank you for joining in our mission to find a cure and end the pain of arthritis.”
