According to The Senior Source’s 20th Annual Spirit of Generations Award Luncheon Co-Chairs Kathy Helm and Carolyn L. Miller,
“This fall, as we look back at the tragedy endured by our city 50 years ago, we will also be reminded of the remarkable recovery Dallas has experienced in the ensuing decades. The 20th annual Spirit of Generations Award Luncheon will pay tribute to a driving force behind many of Dallas’ most important achievements during that time by honoring former city manager and long-time civic leader, George R. Schrader.
“The Spirit of Generations Award is presented annually by The Senior Source to an individual, or group of individuals, who have contributed significantly in “thoughts, words and deeds” to all generations of the Dallas community past, present and future. There are no better of examples of this type of legacy than the ambitious goals George Schrader helped make realities: Reunion (and its iconic tower), Dallas City Hall, the Meyerson Symphony Center, the Dallas Museum of Art, DFW International Airport – to name just a few.
“We hope you will join us on Thursday, November 7, at the Hilton Anatole when we celebrate our city by presenting this most deserved award to George. By supporting this event, you help make it possible for The Senior Source to address the loneliness and isolation so many older adults face, the fraud and exploitation to which so many fall victim, and the hopelessness far too many elderly individuals have accepted as part of their later years. With your help, we can provide protection, eldercare, advocacy, volunteer opportunities and employment services to the over 25,000 individuals we serve each year.
