How simply perfect! It’s cold and damp outside. Yes, it’s pretty rotten conditions for sunbathing or gardening. Even strolling is not relished. But it’s the best type of weather to settle back for movie watching, popcorn eating and learning from experts about the behind-the-scenes activities of making films.
Tonight kicks off the 2013 Dallas International Film Festival at the brand newest movie theater in Dallas — LOOK in Addison. Showing on the LOOK screens will be “Still Mine,” “Kon-Tiki,” “The Crash Reel,” “8½” and “Java Heat.” BTW, Frederico Fellini’s “8½” is legendary. You’ve probably seen it at home on your 60″ flat screen. Not the same, though, as seeing it on a theater’s bigger-than-big screen. If you can’t see it tonight, the DIFF will also show it on April 13 at the Angelika.
For more info about the 175 films, schedules and super-duper packages tailor-made for everyone thanks to the Dallas Film Society, check out the DIFF website. It’s a movie lovers’ idea of OMG!
BTW, “Java Heat” was written and produced by Dallas’s own father/son team Rob Allyn and Conor Allyn and stars Mickey Rourke. Conor also directed the film.
