The Center for Nonprofit Management’s “A Night of Light” isn’t until November 14, but they need your help now. In order to select the recipients of $5,000 awards that will be presented at the dinner, they need nominations. The categories are:
- Nonprofit of the Year — Presented to the nonprofit organization that has best implemented a program/project clearly focused on advancing its mission to address a community need.
- Nonprofit CEO of the Year — Presented to the nonprofit CEO/ executive director who has best demonstrated exemplary leadership and vision.
- Nonprofit Board Leader of the Year — Presented to the board chairperson or board member who has best contributed to the long-term impact of the nonprofit that he or she serves and whose leadership exhibits best practices in nonprofit governance.
- Nonprofit Communicator of the Year, in Honor of Robert Miller — Presented to the nonprofit organization that has best used a communications program/campaign to successfully advance its mission.
- Corporation of the Year — Presented to the corporation that best models good corporate citizenship and socially responsible partnerships.
In the past the nomination process took place in the summer, but since everybody’s grey matter tends to go on hiatus during that season, they decided to start it now. But the deadline for submissions has also been moved up. It’s 5 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013.
Finalists will be notified in late May.
Ah, but that’s not all. Once again the CNM will have the community vote on their fav nonprofit — Community Choice Award. But don’t start warming up your voting digits yet. The online voting won’t start until May and will continue until Thursday, November 14.
FYI: In its 13 years of celebrating nonprofits, 69 agencies and individuals have received the $5,000 awards totaling $345,000. And each one of the these groups deserves and appreciates it.
