The Turtle Creek area is one of Dallas’ gems. But this beauty is not totally natural. Mother Nature may lay out the groundwork, so to speak, but it takes a lot hands-on tender loving care and roll-up-the-sleeves fundraising to keep it up.
A driving force behind this effort is the Turtle Creek Association. The group just announced that Jon Beasley has been named the TCA’s president/CEO.
It won’t take any time at all to get Jon up and running on how the association works. He’s been a member and volunteer for a decade. Jon’s done everything from being a team leader for the Creek Clean-up Crew to recently co-chairing the Pumpkins in the Park. This past year he received the association’s 2012 Chair’s Service Award.
“Jon’s infectious enthusiasm and love of Turtle Creek, combined with his strong financial and marketing background, made him the perfect candidate to lead our organization,” said Don McDermett, board chair of Turtle Creek Association. “His dedication, skills and passion for preserving and protecting the Turtle Creek Corridor will allow us to enhance our preservation efforts and build a stronger organization through greater membership and community outreach.”
Known as the Turtle Creek Corridor, the area includes “90 acres of greenways and parking”. . . “stretching north-south from Fitzhugh to Maple and east-west from Cole to Oak Lawn, serving as the ‘front yard’ of the Katy Trail and stretching into Uptown.”
