Have you priced a hotel room in Dallas lately? Goodness! A week’s stay in a good hotel is the equivalent to a mortgage payment in some parts. That’s why the Ronald McDonald Houses of Dallas and Fort Worth are such a bargain for families who are here for children being treated at area hospitals.
According to Ronald McDonald House of Dallas CEO Jill Cumnock, “When families stay at the Dallas or Fort Worth houses, they are asked to contribute $15 a night; however, no family is turned away due to the inability to pay.”
Yes, we know. You’re sitting there thinking $15 is a bargain. . . who couldn’t afford that? A lot of folks, especially those who have had to uproot themselves from their homes, take leaves of absence from jobs and temporarily relocate to DFW for their child.
Now, for the good part. Knowing how you like happily-ever-after stories, the best has been saved for last.
The RMHs have arranged for you to add to your wardrobe and help the Ronald McDonald families. Jill and her fellow RMH staffers in Dallas and Fort Worth have arranged for “Share the Love” T-shirts with the hope that they’ll be worn a lot, but especially on Friday, June 22, to show support for the RMHs.
Because you’re smart, you’ve already guessed how much each t-shirt will cost. . . $15.
“So when you purchase a T-shirt, you are providing a night for a family with a sick or injured child,” Jill added, hoping that business, organizations, groups and individuals will call or go online and shop to “share the love.”
Among the organizations supporting this program are Children’s Medical Center, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Sleep Experts, TEAKMidstream, Grissett Enterprises LLC, McDonald’s Corporate, EOG Resources, Axxys and PrimMark USA.
