2016 Art Ball Live Auction Chair Trisha Wilson practically considers South Africa a suburb of Dallas. Having discovered the wonders and beauty of the land and its people ages ago, the international designer invested her time, talents and ca-ching there by creating Izingwe Lodge. So, naturally Trisha wanted to include her home-away-from-home for the Dallas Museum of Art fundraiser.
2016 Art Ball Auction Item #5: African Safari (Value: Priceless)
Located within the 82,000-acrea Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, the incredible Izingwe Lodge has been created with luxury in mind and exploration all around. Three hours north of Johannesburg, the Reserve is where elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, rhinos, zebras and Cape buffalo are free to live.
For the winner of this package, the open-air Lodge’s two king villas and one double/double villa will be theirs for six days and five nights plus the Boma, “where guests will dine al fresco before a welcoming fire” in the evening. And while the lodge is surrounded by nature’s beauty, the facilities epitomize the ultimate in pampering blended with African art and artifacts. From exquisite linens on the beds to thatched roofs, Trisha knows how to spoil guests beyond expectations.
As for the wildlife, she has provided ample opportunities to observe them in their natural habitat.
In addition to the “Hide, a prime location for viewing animals gathered at the nearby watering hole,” the guests will daily have a morning and late-afternoon game drive around the Reserve with an experience game ranger to point out the various species of animals. Don’t forget to bring your camera because your friends aren’t going to believe the sights you’ve seen.
In between tours of the grounds, the guests can either settle back on a private sala (outdoor lounge area), workout in the gym and lounge by the pool.
