When it was announced that Cynt Marshall would be the 2025 J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award recipient, a certain amount of zeal accompanied the news. Anyone who had ever experienced a Cynt Moment just knew they were in good hands and would walk away with a renewed enthusiasm for embracing the very essence of SMU’s Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility.

But they also knew that it would not be a ho-hum occasion for both city leaders and longtime Cynt fans like Bobby Lyle, Lael and Peter Brodsky, Tracey Nash-Huntley, Serita and T.D. Jakes, Ashlee and Chris Kleinert, Gail Thomas, Carol and Don Glendenning, Michelle Thomas, Brent Christopher, Matrice Ellis Kirk, Ruben Esquivel, Regina Montoya, Margo Goodwin, Shonn Brown, Michael Hinojosa, Ralph Babb, and SMU’s Gail and Gerald Turner, Brad Cheves and Rita Kirk.

And Cynt certainly did not disappoint, with her recipe of a heavy dose of deprecating humor mixed with a healthy helping of compassion leaving no regrets on the table.
