Communities Foundation of Texas is continuing to spread philanthropy across North Texas. In its latest show of support, this morning it was announced that $9,705,000 is being provided to “non-profits committed to expanding access to North Texas health services.”

Most of the funds (or $9.25M) went to five organizations:
- Children’s Medical Center Foundation — $3,000,000 to support the new pediatric campus in Dallas. The new campus will include the Communities Foundation of Texas Family Lounge.
- Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas — $1,500,000 for the development of a new Community Health Center, which is expected to provide care for 55,000 people annually, four-fifths of whom are low-income.
- Metrocare — $2,500,000 to support its capital campaign for a new Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Innovation Center, which will expand Metrocare’s capacity to serve by 23%.
- Nexus Family Recovery Center — $1,250,000 for the redevelopment of Nexus Family Recover Center’s campus, which features a new and expanded Pregnant and Parenting Women With Children dormitory and Child Development Center.
- Resource Center — $1,000,000 for the Center’s comprehensive campaign for a new health center, Resource Center Health, which is projected to care for more than 9,500 people annually, a 36% increase from current capacity.
According to CFT President/CEO Wayne White, “CFT believes that a thriving community is one where everyone feels supported and cared for. These investments are about so much more than the buildings. What we’re investing in is the transformative and expanded care that these facilities and campuses will make possible. Each of these non-profits offers a wide range of services that promote health, going beyond direct support. These organizations apply innovative, systemic approaches to advancing health equity, helping ensure that our community members can prioritize their well-being, regardless of socioeconomic or insurance status.”
In addition to these five grants, CFT has awarded $455K to a dozen organizations (Abide Women’s Health Services, Delighted To Doula Birth Services, HHM Health, Hope Cottage, In My Shoes, Jonathan’s Place, LBU Community, Nexus Family Recovery Center, Storks Nest Charity Fund Of Dallas, TexProtects, United Way Of Metropolitan Dallas and Viola’s House) to address “the urgent need for maternal health” in North Texas.
In addition to the 17 grants, it was announced that CFT and an anonymous donor will provide matching dollar-for-dollar donations up to $50K for the public to support all these organizations — up to $1,000 per donor per organization — by using the North Texas Giving Day platform starting today through Thursday, July 3.
