With most schools closed for summer hiatus, kids have headed to Camp Waldemar and Camp Longhorn or to family getaways far from North Texas. That is, except for the 40+ gals who make up the 2025 La Fiesta de Las Seis Banderas collection of duchesses.
From the theme announcement “The Ruby Regalia” revealed in September at Carrie Cothrum‘s home to the announcement event co-chaired by Nicole Brewer and Meredith Bebee that included the reveal of the duchesses and escorts in December at “a local country club” and the Preview Luncheon at the Dallas Arts District Mansion co-chaired by Carrie and Renne Lokey for the duchesses’ and escorts’ mothers and friends, like Libby Hegi, Janice Denton, Kim Quinn, Amy Prestidge, Paige Slates, Elizabeth Gambrell, Michaela Dyer, Liz Thrash, Stephanie Kantor, April Frazer, Victoria Snee and Kate Kutilek Leyendecker, there’s been a whirlwind of La Fiesta activity. The non-stop agenda has continued this week with a tea, cocktail parties, rehearsals and the annual Fiesta Under The Stars on Friday co-chaired by Addie Skinner and Kristi Vanderwoude leading up to the grand finale this Saturday for the formal presentation gala co-chaired by Gini Florer and Elizabeth Miller.

2024-2025 La Fiesta Co-Chairs Susan Glassmoyer and Rachel Stienke and 2024-2025 La Fiesta President Suzanne Brown have taken full advantage of this year’s marking the fundraiser’s 40th anniversary by saluting all the flags of Texas.

Over the past four decades, the program has become a multi-generation affair with families like La Fiesta Co-Founder Jennie Reeves, whose daughter Lucy Reeves Wrubel was a duchess in 1987. Jennie’s granddaughter Stella Wrubel will grace the presentation Saturday as the Duchess of The Starry Night.
This year’s La Fiesta will provide funding for the 2024-2025 beneficiaries: Boys & Girls Clubs, CARE Dallas (Chemical Awareness Resource and Education), Connecting Point of Park Cities, Friends of the Highland Park Library, Friends of the University Park Public Library, Highland Park Education Foundation, HP Arts, Highland Park Literary Festival, Highland Park Science And Technology Festival, HPHS Community Service Council, HPHS Student Emergency Fund, HPHS Student Council, MIS Mental Health/Center for Integrative Counseling and Psychology, Moody Family YMCA/The Ashford Rise School, PC-TAG, To Be Like Me and the Park Cities Heritage House at Old City Park.
