Some folks dread Mondays with all the angst of the week ahead. But let’s shift that past anxiety with nothing but great news today.
First on the list took place this past Saturday at the Turtle Creek Chorale‘s 45th birthday celebration at Gilley’s Dallas. As gangbusting as it was, despite the area storms, 2025 Turtle Creek Chorale Rhapsody Gala Chair Whitney Strauss revealed plans for the major fundraiser presented by Lexus and The Eugene McDermott Foundation.
Taking place at The Statler Hotel on Saturday, September 20, the black-tie evening will have 2006 American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee and multi-Grammy Award-winning record producer, composer, arranger, and musician David Foster headlining that exclusive concert featuring David’s hits for “Chicago,” Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Michael Bublé, with Katharine performing her biggest songs from “American Idol,” “Smash” and “Waitress.”
According to Whitney, “This event is more than a celebration — it’s a reflection of the joy, resilience and unity the Chorale brings to our community. I’m thrilled for Dallas to be able to enjoy a private concert with the incredible Katharine McPhee and David Foster in a beautiful evening with no speeches, no awards — just entertainment.”
What makes this year’s Rhapsody especially poignant is that it was 45 years ago that Turtle Creek Chorale was established, and six years ago that the first Rhapsody took place, at the Statler Hotel in 2019.
As Turtle Creek Chorale Executive Director Dr. Dawson B. Taylor said, “This milestone season will showcase an exciting lineup of performances that reflect our rich history, and we look forward to sharing this journey with our community and seeing where this next chapter takes us.”
