Looking ahead to the dynamic growth of North Texas, the momentum is surging ahead for the creation of a landmark undertaking for future generations that will replace the current Children’s Medical Center, with a planned completion in 2031.
With a staggering goal of $5B (that’s “B’ as in billion) for the total project cost, it has just been announced that “the Moody Foundation has provided a grant of ‘more than $100M’ toward the $1 billion needed in community support for the project.”
According to Children’s Health President/CEO Christopher J. Durovich, “Thanks to the Moody family’s incredible vision and philanthropy, we continue to push the boundaries of pediatric health care and innovation. Their generosity will be reflected in the state-of-the-art care provided at our new Dallas campus, helping us redefine pediatric health care and transform the lives of children and families across North Texas and the country for decades to come.”
In honor of this multi-million-dollar gift, the 2M-square-foot hospital at the new 33+-acre campus — a partnership of Children’s and UT Southwestern at Harry Hines Boulevard, just north of Paul M. Bass Way — will be named “Moody Children’s Hospital.”
As Moody Foundation President/CEO Frances “Francie” Moody-Dahlberg said, “Naming the new hospital is a reflection of the deep trust and shared vision between the Moody Foundation, Children’s Health and UT Southwestern. Together, with [the new] Moody Children’s Hospital, we’re building more than a hospital — we’re building hope.
“We’re proud to partner with Children’s Health and UT Southwestern to help reimagine pediatric care in our region. Our support is about more than expanding healthcare—it’s about brighter and healthier futures for every child who walks through these doors.”
Over time, the Moody family’s longtime support of innovation and education as a catalyst for positive change has resulted in an additional $400M benefiting Children’s Health and the University of Texas System.

On behalf of UT Southwestern Medical Center, President Dr. Daniel Podolsky said, “The Moody Foundation’s transformative investment in the well-being of future generations of children and youth marks a pivotal moment in our ability to reshape pediatric care across Texas, train the next generation of caregivers and accelerate vital discoveries that will continuously enhance our capacity to heal. The Foundation’s commitment to advancing our new pediatric campus will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the patients and families we are privileged to serve.”
With the North Texas area predicted to double its pediatric population by 2025, the campus will “usher in a new era of pediatric medical care, innovation and research” to meet the demand.
As Children’s Medical Center Foundation President Brent Christopher said, “This extraordinary gift is yet another testament to the Moody family’s unwavering dedication to expanding access to high-quality health care for every child. Their generosity will shape the future of medicine for kids across our community and far beyond. With the Moody Foundation grant, we now have reached half of the amount of the community support needed to bring the new Dallas pediatric campus to life.”

The Moody Foundation’s gift once again shows the philanthropy of North Texans like the Mac Pogue and Trevor Rees-Jones families, who each provided $100M in the past year for the philanthropic fundraising goal.
If you haven’t had a chance to drive by the site of the future campus, you need to put it on your “must-see list.” Then you’ll really get the scope of this ginormous undertaking for the generations to come.
