Everyone has thoroughly been enjoying the past few days of glorious weather with sunshine and very friendly temperatures. How the folks at Turtle Creek Park Conservancy had hoped to have such conditions for this Sunday’s Easter In the Park at Turtle Creek Park, with its massive hunt for eggs, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and the head-turning Pooch Parade.
But, alas, it appears that conditions for this weekend would be much more conducive to mud-wrestling than egg-hunting, with thunderstorms predicted to hit North Texas Saturday morning and continue until Sunday afternoon.

Needless to say, the idea of parents bringing their children in their Easter outfits to slosh through the drenched grounds in search of 15,000 plastic eggs; dogs and their humans parading in the rain before a soggy group of spectators; and the Quintet’s not being able to expose their instruments under such conditions, just doesn’t work for a good time.
For the safety of the attendees, vendors, volunteers and canines — not to mention the potential damage to the park — it has just been decided to cancel this year’s event, so folks can make other plans for their Easter.
According to TCPC President Tiffany Divis, “Our board of directors, donors and staff all agree that the safety of park guests and maintaining the beauty and healthy condition of Turtle Creek Park are our main priorities.”
And what about the 15,000 eggs that were to be scattered throughout the Park’s lawn? Well, the TCPC staff has “scrambled” due to this last-minute decision and made a perfecto omelet by donating them to The Stewpot for distribution at their facilities.
“We are so grateful that the generous sponsors and supporters have agreed to remain on board for our 2026 Easter In The Park plans,” Tiffany said. “We also appreciate The Stewpot team’s willingness to distribute the eggs we had secured for the egg hunt.”
Leading the charge for 2026 will be this year’s Grand Marshal/Honorary Chairs Susan and John Farris and family.

In the meantime, when asked about the chance of rain impacting the TCPC’s 2025 Day at the Races on Saturday, May 3, Tiffany said, “No way.” Since it’s primarily indoors, it will be on come rain or shine.
