Back in November at the Business Council For The Arts’ Obelisk Awards Luncheon, BCA Founder Chair/NorthPark President Nancy Nasher was not holding back about the shopping center’s latest developments. One of those “developments” was Diptyque, the legendary Parisian fragrance and skincare. One guest was surprised, saying, “Hasn’t it been in there for nearly a decade?”
Yes! But it had been nestled in an intimate corner of the Nordstrom’s Court. Evidently, that has all changed dramatically.
In past years, the little shop had been so cozy that Family Compass’ annual reveal of its North Star Luncheon was like a phone booth stuffed with guests barely able to wedge in to learn the details of the organization’s fundraising.

That’s all changed. The shop is no longer a corner cutie. Rather, it’s moved across the way into a fabulous showroom at least three times the size of its old digs. But, thank heaven, it has somehow managed to keep the charm and ambiance of luxury, thanks to the scents and elegant looks of the new interior design.
And it also continued to carry on its support of Family Compass tonight as Assistant Boutique Manager Chase Frith and his staff hosted the announcement party for the 2025 North Star Luncheon. Co-Chairs Bianca Hernandez and Elisabeth McHugh joined Family Compass CEO Ona Foster in revealing that longtime Family Compass supporter Toni McReynolds would be receiving the 2025 North Star Award, and that The Hoglund Foundation would serve as the honorary chair. In addition, NDBT has once again signed on as the presenting sponsor, and Mary Bowman Campbell will be sponsoring the luncheon’s VIP reception.

This year’s speaker will be Erin Merryn, who, despite being the victim of rape and sexual abuse by a neighbor from age 6 to 8 — and then suffering an equal ordeal from age 11 to 13 at the hands of an older cousin — has risen to help others by tirelessly championing legislation now called “Erin’s Law” in her home state of Illinois.
As of today, Erin’s Law has spread like wildfire, being passed by a total of 38 states, with 12 others pending.
According to Ona, “Erin has made it her mission to pass Erin’s Law in every state, a law that requires personal body safety [to be] taught in public schools annually. In the fight against child abuse and neglect, this work is vital to help children find their voice.”
BTW, yes, Texas is one of the 38 that has passed the law.
To meet and hear Erin discuss her journey with emcee Calvert Collins-Bratton at “a local country club” on Monday, April 28, check out tickets and sponsorship opportunities here.

And if you’re stumped for a Valentine’s gift, you just might want to head to Diptyque for sweetheart delights.
