According to The Stewpot‘s 2025 Soup’s On! Co-Chair Buddy Jordan,
“My wish this holiday season is for friends and neighbors to join us Monday, January 27, at 2025 Soup’s On! I am serving with Isabell and Philip (Trey) Higginbotham as a luncheon co-chair. We have the privilege to kick off a year-long celebration of The Stewpot’s 50th anniversary at the luncheon. This is especially important for me because I helped serve The Stewpot’s very first meal 50 years ago.

“The Stewpot loves and serves our Dallas neighbors, helping them break free from poverty and homelessness. It started out as a mission to feed people on the streets downtown but has since grown to provide comprehensive services and a community of support to people who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
“I vividly remember being at the first meal in 1975 at which there were approximately 19 meals served on Harwood. Now, The Stewpot is serving almost 1,000 meals every single day. The Stewpot has grown rapidly, tripling in size over the past four years alone, in response to the needs of our neighbors. The Housing Program started just three years ago and has already helped find homes for 320 people!

“In addition to essential programs for people experiencing homelessness, The Stewpot also focuses on prevention for families through the Children, Youth and Family program. They offer year-round programming for students and their families and opportunities for scholarships after high school.
“This has been a cause near to my heart since the very first meal. My children, and now grandchildren, have been involved. So, my wish is that you would join us at Soup’s On in January to raise support for these vital programs so that The Stewpot can continue to love and serve our neighbors.”
