Plans are coming together for the creation of the Dallas Children’s Museum, a 501 (c)(3) organization, thanks to the efforts of such folks as Dallas Children’s Museum Board Chair Patty Hussey, VP Avery Meginnis, Secretary Jessica Maclin and Treasurer Kevin Branch.
In place is the Museum’s mission to “provide a safe and welcoming space that fosters a love of learning and encourages children to discover their potential.”
In keeping with the game plan, a STEAM-based learning approach would be “supported by the museum’s exhibits, programs and partnership with the community with the hope of empowering children to become active and responsible citizens making positive contributions to their world.”
According to Patty, “Among the top ten largest U.S. cities, Dallas is the only one without a fully dedicated children’s museum. We have outstanding parks and cultural venues in our city for science, art, history and sports, many of which we hope to partner with to amplify our opportunities for our young learners, and we are passionate about bringing this exciting destination to all of North Texas.”
In the meantime, an active search is underway for a site for the museum including “several potential sites in southeast Dallas.”
