October got off to an amazing start with two events taking place on Tuesday, October 1. While Children’s Health and UT Southwestern were breaking ground at the site of the new Dallas pediatric campus highlighted by a multimillion-dollar announcement courtesy of Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones, the Equest Women’s Auxiliary was holding its annual Fashion Show and Luncheon at Brook Hollow Golf Club just a mile or so away.
In a tip of the hat to Kristina Whitcomb‘s being presented the Equest Community Service Award, Children’s Medical Center Foundation President Brent Christopher said, “Kristina is well deserving of this acknowledgement.”
Despite the last minute rearrangement of speakers due to an illness in the family, Luncheon Chair Katherine Wyker and Underwriting Chair Catherine Jaynes created a celebration of fashionable designs courtesy of Highland Park Village merchants (Akris, Carolina Herrera, La Vie Style House, Lela Rose, LoveShackFancy, Simkhai and Market) that was highlighted with awards, the acknowledgment of producer Jan Strimple‘s retirement and the munchkin models stealing the spotlight.
