Equest Mini-Ambassadors Were Show Stoppers At Fashion Show Patron Party At HPV Herrera Salon

The evening of the Equest Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show patron party could have been a real challenge. While having any occasion at Carolina Herrera’s salon in Highland Park Village is always a treat, on the night of Thursday September 19, it was a perfect storm of sorts.

Just a couple doors away, Yo Lobster was having its closing party with half-price partying for one and all.

Another situation was the blocking off of ten parking space between Roller Rabbit and Rolex. Drivers eyed the off-limits spaces with envy, driving some to actually admi they had been tempted to park in handicap or valeting.

But as it turned out, the parking frustration was so forgotten at the sight of the Equest Mini-Ambassadors Dare and Ranger. Highland Park Officer J. Davis sent a selfie with Ranger saying, “This is a my new mounted police partner.” Pretty soon the little hooved gents had people lining for similar photos.

While an old hand in the non-profit world of North Texas, Equest CEO Eric Lindh had already had a greater appreciation for the equine therapy program and its reputation.

Holding out his hand, he laughed that he had recently learned a lesson the hard way of how not to feed a carrot to a horse.

But he had also gone through the Equest program to better understand, and in turn appreciate, the connection horses can be for clients.

Inside, Fashion Show Chair Katherine Wyker welcomed the guests, thanked Herrera General Manager Morgan Williams and her staff and updated the guests on plans for the fundraiser at Brook Hollow Golf Club on Tuesday, October 1. In addition to Herrera fashions on the runway produced by Jan Strimple, there would be other Highland Park Village merchants Akris, La Vie Style House, Lela Rose, Lele Sadoughi, LoveShackFancy, Market, Miron Crosby and Simkhai.

Another highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Community Service Award to Auxiliary Founder Louise Griffeth and the Equest Community Service Award to Kristina Whitcomb.

She also recognized committee standouts involved in the fundraiser like Honorary Chair Carol Huckin, Underwriting Chair Catherine Jaynes, Treasurer Ashley Allen, Raffle Chair Margaret Elizabeth McKissack, Seating Co-Chairs Shannon Graham and Kimber Hartmann, Children’s Chair Caitlin Laughlin and Arrangement Co-Chairs Kristin Hallam and Kella Smith.
