Decisions! Decisions! For those wanting to enjoy the incredibly beautiful weather and feasting in the great outdoors of Dallas, they’re no doubt being torn between two such fundraisers taking place on the evening of Thursday, October 10.
The Staubach siblings and in-laws (Jennifer and John Gates, Michelle and John Grimes, Amy and Jamie Mentgen, Stephanie and Todd Phillips and Jenny and Jeff Staubach) along with Honorary Chair Lyda Hill will be at Klyde Warren Park for the annual Party In The Park presented by Republic National Distributing Company.
If the skies stay cloudless, it should be a glorious evening with the stars twinkling overhead and the lights of the surrounding skyscrapers along the sides of the Park. Following the Nancy Best Fountain cocktail reception, there will be a seated supper with Hall wine at the table. And, of course, there will be entertainment that includes Elvis Presley Tribute Artist Kraig Parker and a concert by ’90s country tribute band Straight Tequila Night.
No wonder that most of the sponsorships are sold, but there are still some opportunities available here.
Another group keeping their fingers crossed that the weather will be flawless on October 10 is the DIFFA Dallas crew. After all, they’re returning to The Village Dallas’ Glen Lawn for the 15th Annual Burgers And Burgundy hosted by Michelin Star Chef John Tesar from 6:30- to 9:30 p.m.
As a tribute to the late food writer John Ozersky, John will be serving his Ozersky Burger, “famous for its four straightforward components: a 44 Farms beef patty, thinly slice red onions, a slice of American cheese and a soft white bun.”
According to John, “I’m proud to have been part of Burgers and Burgundy since its inaugural year. It’s incredible to see how this event has grown over the past 15 years, not just in size but in the impact we’re making for a cause that means so much to us all. Every year, incredible chefs from around the city come together to put their own spin on America’s favorite food, the hamburger, all to benefit this amazing cause. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year!”
Joining John will be the 2024 class of “masterful chefs” including Sheraton Hotel’s Andrew Cardillo, SER Steak and Spirits’ Aubrey Murphy, Meridian at The Village’s Eduardo Osorio, The Saint’s Jacob Williamson, Stock and Barrel’s Jon Stevens, Perch Bistro and Bar’s Roman Murphy, Nikki Greek Bistro’s Ryan Carbery, Deluca and Doce Mesas.
Just imagine the array of sliders that will be “expertly paired with fine wines.”
In addition to grazing about the grounds, a raffle of luxury packages and a wine pull, Event Co-Chair Rhiannon Bolen, Brandon Bell and Jonathan Flores will announce the 2024 Style Council and the theme for the 2025 House of DIFFA.
Individual tickets range from $95 to $140 and are available here.
Needless to say, both Party In The Park and Burgers And Burgundy folks are negotiating with Mother Nature to cooperate for a perfect night. So far, it appears she’s all on board with temperature scheduled to be in the low 80s and no rain. In other words, cottons, silks and smiles.
