As the crowd gathered at Highland Park Village’s Veronica Beard tonight, they were in for far more than just pretty looks. It was for the beaucoup of announcements for the 2025 St. Valentine’s Day Fashion Show and Luncheon.
Topping the list of announcements for sending Love And Care were a couple of the luncheon honorees.
As a sneak peak of plans, Co-Chairs Courtney Petit and Caitlin Wilson revealed that former First Lady Laura Bush would be the recipient of the Icon Award. Poignantly, Laura and former U.S. President George W. Bush understand well what the loss of a child to leukemia means. Laura, who has shown grace and a caring heart, has advocated and brought attention to so many causes, from education reform to the well-being of women and families worldwide. But it was the loss to advanced leukemia of George’s 3-year-old sister Robin Bush — the second child of future President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush — in 1953 that brought home the deadly disease to W and his parents.
In spite of Robin’s death, and thanks to funds raised through the St. Valentine’s Day fundraiser, children like 2025 Spirit Of Tom Landry Awardee Jude Cobler is a five-time survivor of leukemia.
Thanks to such research, Jude “is in remission and studying computer science at the University of Texas at Dallas.”
Still, Jude “has relied on his family during his journey and continues to share his experiences and inspires others in their fights against cancer to stay positive and live life to the fullest.”
Supporting the efforts of the 2025 fundraiser at the fashion extravaganza at the Meyerson on Wednesday, February 12, will be Highland Park Village merchants Veronica Beard, Carolina Herrera, Loveshack Fancy, La Vie Style House, Simkhai and Lela Rose.
Courtney and Caitlin promise that the rest of the honorees will be revealed in the weeks ahead. But who’s waiting. Now is the time to lock down those sponsorships and tickets!
