The early birds are already checking things off their upcoming holiday must-do list like ordering a turkey for Thanksgiving, checking out holiday cards to mail, shopping for gifts and having outfits prepared for the party season.
One annual holiday occasion needs to be added to the calendar — The Salvation Army Of North Texas’ “Doing The Most Good” Luncheon. Traditionally it takes place on the Thursday before the Thanksgiving kick-off of the Red Kettle Campaign.
This year’s Luncheon Co-Chairs Liz Beauchamp and Angie Kadesky along with Honorary Co-Chairs Della and Bob Best and Underwriting Co-Chairs Felicia and Gideon Powell have just revealed that the event will return to the Hilton Anatole on Thursday, November 21, with NBC 5 News Anchor Meredith Land as emcee.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Carlos Sepulveda, who not only chairs Triumph Financial Inc. but is also Chairman of the Board of Cinemark Holdings Inc. Formerly he was with Interstate Batteries System of America Inc. for 23 years, serving as president/CEO for the last nine years.
But he wasn’t always the head of major companies. He recalled his first job was sacking groceries and later building fences 52 hours a week that he admitted he hated.
A 1979 University of Texas graduate, he earned his CPA two years later and worked for KPMG Peat Marwick in Austin, New York and San Francisco before returning to Texas to join Interstate.
Carlos and his wife Susan Sepulveda have four sons, four daughters-in-law and 16 grandchildren.
Proceeds from the luncheon help The Salvation Army Of North Texas to raise vital funds and awareness to support thousands of North Texans in need.
According to Angie, “The generosity of attendees and donor at events such as the Doing the Most Good Luncheon help The Salvation Army Of North Texas support all those combating poverty, addiction and homelessness in Dallas, Tarrant and Ellis, Denton and Collin and Rockwall counties all year long.
Sponsorships, tables and tickets for the luncheon are available here.
