2024 Cattle Baron Ball Co-Chair Marjon Henderson was enjoying a post double doozy celebration on Friday, September 6. Just the day before, she had celebrated both her birthday and being named Neiman Marcus Brand VP.
So, it shouldn’t have been the least bit of a surprise that she had arranged for the Natura Bissé staff to share information about a unique connection with the Cattle Baron’s mission at the former CBB chairs’ luncheon at NM NorthPark’s Cafe.
But more about that later. First, the Luncheon Co-Chairs Laura Black, Kate Boatright and Paige Westhoff corralled and herded Marjon and 2024 CBB Co-Chair Lora Farris and the CBB veterans down to the Neiman Marcus North Park’s Garden Terrace for their group photo. The day’s weather couldn’t have been more user-friendly, thanks to an arrangement of benches on the terrace under the shady trees.
Afterwards the gaggle of gals headed to a seated luncheon in the NM Cafe that was decked out with cowgirl boots and fashion a la luxury style. They were then treated to a presentation by the internationally known Natura Bissé team.
What was the connection between the Baronesses whose mission was to provide funding for cancer research and treatments in North Texas and the Barcelona-based skin-care company? It was soon apparent as they explained how Natura Bissé Co-Founders Ricardo Fisas and Gloria Vergés had created a private and independent foundation in 2008 that was committed to the well-being of people in vulnerable situations, like going through cancer treatments. Their staff supports people with cancer in order to minimize the side effects that medical treatments might have on their skin, which can, in turn, affect their quality of life.
Alas, CBB Co-Chair Jacque Wynne arrived just as the presentation got underway. But she had a stellar excuse. Somehow the long-time fundraiser in the battle against cancer had managed to wedge in being a part of the former CBB chairs in the NM NorthPark Zodiac Room. In addition to her having just closed one of the biggest residential deals in her career, she was to dash off to her alma mater SMU to celebrate Garry Weber‘s support.
It was back in 1974 that Jacque and Patti Williams Hunt kicked off the very first CBB at the Wynne’s Star Brand Ranch and provided $56,000 thanks to fewer than 400 guests, when the local Glenn Ash band took the stage only to be surprised when a guest hopped onstage to sing. That guest was none other than Charley Pride. Now, more than 50 years later, the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society research in North Texas gleans multimillion dollars to make life-changing difference in the lives of individuals of all ages and their families.
