Following its Rhapsody Gala with Cyndi Lauper, the Turtle Creek Chorale (TCC) has additional news. After “an extensive search,” the Board of Directors has selected Dr. Dawson B. Taylor to follow Jeremy Wayne as executive director starting Friday, November 1.
Far from being a stranger to North Texas or the Chorale, Dawson has served as executive minister of Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ in Dallas as well as a singing member of the TCC in 2006. He served on the board in 2007 and became its chair in 2009.
Since his tenure in Dallas, he served as Designated Minister of Westmoreland Congregation United Church of Christ in Bethesda, Maryland, and sang in the Gay Men’s Chorus in Washington, D.C.
Before his work at Westmoreland, Dawson was Associate Minister of Naples United Church of Christ in Naples, Florida, from 2013 to 2015 and Senior Minister from 2016 to 2022.
Having earned a Bachelor of Arts In Political Science from Centenary College of Louisiana, he received a Master of Theological Studies from SMU’s Perkins School of Theology and a Doctorate of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary.
According to TCC Board chair Kevin Housing, “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are so excited to welcome Dr. Taylor back to Dallas to lead the Turtle Creek Chorale as Executive Director. His professional experience, exceptional leadership and genuine passion for the TCC make him the ideal fit for his role.”
