With the walk-about weather getting folks out and about, the Friends of the Katy Trail have some suggestions for pets and their people pals.
- Remember to keep your pooch-pal relationship connected via a leash at all times during your treks on the Trail. While s/he may be wo/man’s best friend, their enthusiastic attention may be not be taken kindly by runners, cyclists and other folks on the Trail. And don’t you know that a tempting squirrel could create all types of havoc for a freewheeling pup.
- If your tail-wagging pal has a call from nature, remember to pick up after her/him.
- Even though the temperatures seem to be cooling a bit, don’t let Mother Nature fool you. The 90-degree temperatures aren’t in the rear-view mirror. When the temperatures do return to the broiling point, keep pooches hydrated and walk them on the grass or the red soft-surface path when possible.
Friends of Katy Trail’s CityVet Community Partner is stepping up to support the pet protocol by providing pet paw safety signs along the Trail.
BTW, these tips are limited to the Trail.
