According to TexProtects’ CEO Adrianna Cuéllar Rojas,
“Imagine a world where every child grows up in a stable, safe, and supportive family. At TexProtects, we know that the best way to protect our children is by empowering the adults in their lives. In 2023 alone, Texas saw 58,120 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect—that’s an average of 159 children every single day. This is not just a statistic; this should be a call to action. We believe that child abuse and neglect are largely preventable, and with your help, Texas children can have the bright future they deserve.
“In 2024, we proudly mark our 10th year of participation in North Texas Giving Day. Over the past decade, thanks to the generosity of over 250 North Texas Giving Day donors, TexProtects’ has successfully steered 54 pieces of legislation to passage and secured over $200 million in state funding for prevention programming throughout the state. These community-based programs reach over 25,000 families annually through evidence-based home visiting and parenting programs, strengthening family functioning and ensuring successful child development.
“TexProtects’ work extends beyond legislative victories, as we also work to ensure that community providers are able to effectively support families in need. Too often, Texas families face crises without access to or knowledge of the services available to them. Imagine a world where families have access to critically needed resources before a crisis occurs.
“With this vision in mind, in early 2024, TexProtects launched the Texas Prevention Network, open to all providers involved in preventing child maltreatment and supporting families in communities across our state. The Network facilitates peer-to-peer connections, hosts regular educational and learning sessions, facilitates resource sharing, and disseminates updates from relevant state agencies and other engaged parties. In just six months, the network has grown by 300% as Texans dedicated to strengthening families join forces. By expanding providers’ knowledge of each other’s work, we enhance their ability to connect families to resources before they reach a crisis point.
“As we approach Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day, we ask for your continued support to both expand the Texas Prevention Network further and to ensure that in the 89th Texas Legislative Session, we prioritize Texas families. Together, we can make a difference and create a safer, brighter future for our children.”
