According to the Frisco Women’s League VP of Development Mache’ Milhauser,
“In 2002, seven neighborhood women set out on a mission to improve their community by volunteering and serving local nonprofits. They decided to take their vision a step further, leading to the founding of the Frisco Women’s League (FWL). Today, FWL boasts a membership of over 250 volunteers, with our combined volunteer hours in the community totaling over 110,000. Over the years, FWL has expanded its mission to include fundraising, enabling us to support nonprofits not only with our time but also financially.
“We are the foremost community partner for improving the quality of life in our area, thanks to an invested and engaged membership driven by service and leadership. FWL’s Board of Directors and membership are 100% volunteer, ensuring that every dollar donated to our organization goes directly into a Charitable Giving Fund. This fund is distributed annually to local nonprofits through a grant process. A portion of our Charitable Giving Fund is also set aside for annual scholarships for Frisco ISD Seniors.
“After this year’s grants, we will have proudly distributed over $500,000 to nonprofits serving Collin and Denton counties. This milestone reflects our commitment to making a lasting difference in our community.
“Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day has been instrumental in helping us expand our impact and support for local nonprofits. In 2016, we raised over $17,000, which enabled us to fund essential community programs and projects. Last year, we raised over $5,500 and started to include donors who are now on a monthly recurring donation schedule. With this support and our Signature Fundraising Events, we were able to give to 20 nonprofit partners in 2023, directly benefiting thousands of residents. This year, our goal is to raise over $10,000 and add more monthly donors to sustain our ongoing initiatives.
The contributions we receive on North Texas Giving Day directly support our mission to empower and uplift the community. These donations enable us to support dozens of organizations through both service and financial contributions. Each gift is a step towards creating a stronger, more resilient community. By funding educational programs, physical and mental health services, initiatives to combat food insecurity, and other critical projects, we ensure that the residents, especially women and children, of Collin and Denton counties have the resources they need to thrive.
“North Texas Giving Day is not just a fundraising event; it’s a celebration of community spirit and generosity. It’s a day when people come together to make a significant impact on the lives of others. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our donors, and we are excited about the potential to do even more this year.
“We invite everyone to join us on this special day. From a company matching partner, a one-time donation, or a monthly recurring contribution, every dollar counts. Your support allows us to continue our vital work and make a lasting difference in our community.”
