According to Communities Foundation of Texas Board Chair Richie Butler,
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Communities Foundation of Texas, we extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to everyone who gave what they could to the causes they care about through this year’s North Texas Giving Day.
“When we kicked off this special series [North Texas Giving Day Booster] in August, Communities Foundation of Texas President and CEO Wayne White shared that he was convinced that nothing compared to the generosity of North Texans, and that there wasn’t another city with our level of generosity. This past Thursday, we proved this to be true once again, with a record-breaking $68.3 million raised through North Texas Giving Day 2024. This number is important because it means that our community has more opportunities to support one another, especially in uplifting our neighbors in need.
“CFT’s mission is to improve the lives of all people in our community by investing in their health, wealth, living, and learning, and North Texas Giving Day plays a major role in advancing this work. This year’s campaign was the largest North Texas Giving Day in our 16-year history, which is truly amazing when you consider that overall giving is reported to be on a decline across the nation for the second year in a row. We have truly witnessed how everyone can be a champion of giving for the causes they care about.
“We were especially grateful this year that so many nonprofits had matching funds available from the many generous givers that were willing to help double the impact of others who gave. Our Giving Day data shows that nonprofits that have matching funds raise more. This year, we had double the number of nonprofits secure matching dollars, and that totaled more than $11 million in impact and had a ripple effect on overall fundraising efforts from participating nonprofits.
“We are also proud that over $6 million was donated by individuals and companies who have charitable giving funds, known as donor-advised funds, at CFT. Our fundholders are incredible partners as we seek to grow community giving through North Texas Giving Day.
“From the four-year old who raised $320 through a lemonade stand to support the unhoused to the creative and daring CEO who went skydiving for the first time to raise funds for Union Gospel Mission, North Texans showed up for their community in so many inspiring ways.
“The best part? 100% of the dollars raised stay right here in North Texas.
“CFT, sponsors, and generous individuals covered all program fees during North Texas Giving Day, so 100% of gifts went directly to the nonprofits you gave to.
“In addition to the generosity of MySweetCharity, which helped tell the inspiring stories of participating nonprofits each year, we thank the generous sponsors who helped make Giving Day possible, including Presenting Sponsor: Amazon; Platinum Sponsors: Charles Schwab Bank, The Giana Foundation Fund, Gigi Gartner, Hunt Cares, The McCune Losinger Family Fund, The Meadows Foundation, The Morris Foundation, Ramesh and Kalpana Bhatia Family Foundation and Sid W. Richardson Foundation; Gold Sponsors: Amon G. Carter Foundation, Granville C. and Gladys H. Morton Fund, Lyda Hill Philanthropies, The Popolo Family Fund, The Rees-Jones Foundation and SCHEELS; Silver Sponsors: 7-Eleven Cares Foundation, The Addy Foundation, Charles Schwab Foundation, The Dallas Foundation, Energy Transfer, Sarah L. Titus Fund and Southwest Airlines; Major Media Sponsors: “The Dallas Morning News,” “D Magazine”/”D CEO,” Telemundo and WFAA. Additional partners and supporters are listed here.
“Our local nonprofits work to meet needs year-round and deserve our ongoing support. If you somehow missed out on participating in this year’s North Texas Giving Day, not to worry. Anyone can continue to search for nonprofits and give through NorthTexasGivingDay.org beyond the Giving Day season.”
