According to Nexus Family Recovery Center‘s First Annual Duck Derby Co-Chairs and sisters Liv Tracy and Sam Tracy,
“Nexus Family Recovery Center’s is excited to announce its First Annual Duck Derby, a unique fundraising event that combines community spirit with playful competition. Scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, from 5-7 p.m., the event will take place at a beautiful home in Dallas. We are leading the charge for an evening that promises both fun and a meaningful impact.
“Attendees can look forward to an exhilarating duck race where rubber ducks will compete for the title of fastest in the pool. The event will also feature light refreshments and beverages provided by Palmer’s Hot Chicken and Ben E. Keith, with DJ Tim setting the mood with vibrant music. For added convenience, Pinky’s Valet will offer complimentary valet service.
“The Duck Derby aims to support Nexus Family Recovery Center’s Child Development Center (CDC), a vital component of the organization’s mission. This vital facility offers essential childcare services for mothers undergoing recovery, providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive while their mothers focus on their journey towards healing and rebuilding their lives.

“This event is not just about racing ducks—it’s about coming together as a community to make a meaningful impact. For just $25, participants can sponsor a duck to race, with additional ducks available through various sponsorship packages. The event features prizes for the top three finishing ducks, offering a fun incentive to get involved.
“Young professionals aged 40 and under are especially encouraged to join Nexus’ Young Supporters Council (YSC), a dedicated group that supports Nexus’ Child Development Center through mixers, networking events, and fundraisers throughout the year.
