According to Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Dallas President Laura Downing,
“Summer is in full-swing, yet the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary is counting the weeks until school starts. School supplies can be expensive, yet important to a child’s self-esteem as they return to school in a few weeks.
“The supply lists are getting longer as the schools require students to provide more classroom items. Many families struggle to provide the basic supplies and the Women’s Auxiliary will assist by assembling 1,000 backpacks for distribution to students in our programs.
“The good news is that our team of volunteers is dedicated and speedy-we are usually done with backpack stuffing in 90 minutes or less! Please join us on Tuesday, July 30, at the Salvation Army Christmas and Disaster Center at 9216 Harry Hines Boulevard from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m.
“The Dallas Women’s Auxiliary is the local expression of a world-wide movement that functions as a fundraising and volunteer service group supporting The Salvation Army of North Texas.
