According to Family Gateway Board Member Chris Golz,
“Our goal is to ensure children experiencing homelessness have the tools and resources they need to achieve greatness inside and outside of the classroom. Currently, there are more than 200 school-aged children [ Pre-K through 12th grade] in our program who need school supplies and uniforms for the upcoming school year.
“At Family Gateway, we provide not only safety and stability but also a nurturing environment where children of all ages can learn, grow, and thrive. For children who have faced uncertainty and trauma, this support is invaluable. Our team and partners work tirelessly to offer educational and social-emotional support to these children throughout the year.

“Families often come into our care after living in their cars or paying their way in a motel, typically with few or no personal items, including clothing. Without appropriate school supplies and uniforms, children are at risk of being bullied or made fun of by their peers. Providing these necessities relieves parents of an additional burden and helps children stabilize during a traumatic and uncertain time.
Your support this back-to-school season will help provide backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and other essential clothing items, such as underwear and socks, for children in our emergency shelter and supportive housing programs. You can help us set our kids up for success this upcoming school year by donating online here.
“School is back in session the week of Monday, August 12, but uniforms and school supplies are provided to children year-round as they move into our emergency shelter. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a successful school year for children experiencing homelessness in our community!”
