Just as earlier reports were claiming that this October in North Texas is looking crammed with activities, the newest one on the radar is The Family Place‘s Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon.
Taking place on Friday, October 4, at the Hilton Anatole, Luncheon Co-Chairs Lauren Black, Nakita Johnson, Clarisa Lindenmeyer and Lauren McKinnon along with Honorary Co-Chairs Lindsay and George Billingsley have revealed that North Texas’ own legendary heroine Dr. Opal “Grandmother of Juneteenth” Lee will receive the Texas Trailblazer Award.
Another of the day’s highlights will be author/actor/director Justin Baldoni, whose “It Ends With Us” film will be released on Friday, August 9.
According to The Family Place CEO Tiffany Tate, “Justin’s diverse experiences in television and film, both in front of and behind the camera, coupled with his podcast and best-selling books that redefine masculinity and gender roles, promise an inspiring and meaningful conversation for our luncheon guests. His purpose-driven work, including his upcoming film, ‘It Ends with Us,’ ensures an event filled with profound insights and thought-provoking solutions.”
Thanks to funds raised from the luncheon, The Family Place will be able “to continue its critical mission of stopping family violence and empowering survivors through safe housing, counseling, and skills development, and helping families transition from fear to safety.”
The luncheon will include a VIP reception, the award presentation and a conversation with Justin moderated by SMU Dedman School of Law’s Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women Director/Associate Professor of Law Natalie Nanasi.
Sponsorships starting at $3,500 are now available here with individual tickets going on sale on Wednesday, August 28.
