North Texas has had its time of Mother Nature throwing temper tantrums with tornadoes, ice storms, straight line winds, flooding and GRID MIA. But in recent days, it’s been a pretty sweet spot as Houston’s communities are underwater and Oklahoma has been decimated by tornadic devastation courtesy of cold fronts.
Even on Thursday, May 9, with the possible threat of hail, a tornado watch and other fears, the Equest Women’s Auxiliary held its kickoff at Highland Park Village’s The Market with an elbow-to-elbow crowd of guests for the ever-fashionable Luncheon And Fashion Show at Brook Hollow on Tuesday, October 1.
The pretty surroundings made an ideal setting for a fashion kickoff with clothes, shoes, purses and all types of accessories on display.

The KO party was a true coming together of generations as exemplified by the presence of Underwriting Chair Catherine Jaynes and daughter Ashley Jaynes.

While Equest Women’s Auxiliary Founder Louise Griffeth was MIA, Louise’s son Teal Griffeth told Fashion Show Chair Katherine Wyker that Louise was still on a girls’ getaway that had also prevented her from attending the Equest Blue Ribbon Gala on Saturday, April 27.

As the crowd grew, guests like Laura Downing, Jennifer Dix, Kristina Whitcomb, Victoria Snee and Katie Leyendecker easily provided the chat entertainment. Linda Secrest admitted to losing 18 pounds in the past months. The incentive was being a grandmother of a three-year-old and trying to keep up with her as well as Linda’s semi-retired doctor husband Les Secrest… Isabell Novakov-Higginbotham being congratulated on her and husband Trey Higginbotham’s co-chairing the 2025 Soup’s On! Luncheon at The Thompson… and Kimber Hartmann reporting that Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show Chair Shannon Graham was still juggling mom duties in addition to fashion show sales. Following Tuesday’s fashion show extravaganza at the Meyerson, the sales of clothes and accessories had moved to the post-show sales while Shannon transitioned into mom-mode with a son graduating from TCU.
As for the Equest Luncheon and Fashion Show, tickets and sponsorships are available here. Stay tuned for news about what fashions will be on the runway.
