Folks have gotten pretty used to federal holidays that fall on a Monday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veteran’s Day) translating into a three-day weekend. But tomorrow’s Juneteenth holiday is going to throw some people for a loop.
Since Juneteenth is the newest federal holiday and for the first time will fall on a Wednesday, you might want to go by your post office and/or brick-and-mortar banks today — or hold off until Thursday.
The good news is in addition to the Juneteenth celebrations, there will be plenty of restaurants and retail establishments plus Klyde Warren Park, the Dallas Arboretum, the Katy Trail and the Dallas Zoo wide open for business. And, there’s a good chance that with schools being out for the summer and federal employees having the day off, the usual morning- and afternoon-drive times will be less congested.
