In her final hours as president of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, Nancy Labadie was chock full of surprises, to the delight of many yesterday at Royal Oaks Country for the DSOL Spring Tea.
Topping all was the presentation of a check for $1,250,000 to Dallas Symphony Orchestra President/CEO Kim Noltemy. The monies were provided thanks to the DSOL’s four major fundraisers — the Presentation Ball, the Junior Symphony Ball, Savor the Symphony and Fashion Notes Designer Award and Luncheon.
According to Nancy, “We are so proud to give our annual donation to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to further their innovative and essential Education and Community Outreach programs. This substantial donation is made possible by the extraordinary efforts of our fundraising chairs and their teams: Laura Price, Jada Mowles, Suzanne Austin, Kristin Cordiak, Nikki Beneke and Joanie Stephens.”
An additional surprise was Nancy’s presenting awards to those who had provided “outstanding service to the organization,” including the following:
- The Pulse Award given to a member who is at the heart of fundraising efforts, who never fails to give, to sponsor, who is the beat, the pulse of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League – Linda Burk
- The Maestro Award given to an established leader of the organization who has distinguished themselves in wise counsel, in constant support, in willingness to jump in and help in short notice, and expert leadership – Kim Brannon
- The Ovation Award given to a member who has been involved in every aspect of our organization mission: education, service and fundraising. She has not only done her board job, but she has assisted in every other area. She has attended every board meeting, collected auction items, served on host committees, we can count on her to support all of our projects. She is a volunteer extraordinaire – Margaret Wilonsky
As Nancy ended her year of fundraising, she said, “Thank you for your friendship and support through this year! It has been a privilege to serve alongside each of you as we raise awareness and support for our beloved Dallas Symphony Orchestra and their incomparable Education and Community Outreach Programs. I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished together.”

Wow! Nancy Labadie and her team are a gracious and fierce group of stalwart DSOL supporters. Having worked closely with them over two decades, I’ve watch them approach their mission as a relay race, with their eye on the prize at all times. When they hand off the baton of Presidency or Chairmanship, they continue to function as a team, having each other’s backs for the greater purpose at all times. This is a circle of friends whose friendships grow over their shared passion of supporting the Dallas Symphony along with helping young men and women mature as they transition to adulthood. They are really quite something to watch in action. Bravo, Ladies!!!!!
