While the Equest Blue Ribbon Ball crowd is recovering from Saturday night’s fundraiser at the Hilton Anatole, Lisa Loy Laughlin is shifting roles from being the interim Equest executive director to being the Equest Women’s Auxiliary (WAUX) president.
In the juggling of roles she was at the letter signing gathering earlier this month at Equest Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show and Luncheon Co-Chair Katherine Wyker‘s dinner table. It was one of those occasions where the table was surrounded elbow-to-elbow with Katherine’s Co-Chair Annie Griffeth, Equest Women’s Auxiliary Founder Louise Griffeth, 2022 Equest WAUX Fashion Show Chair Shannon Graham, Underwriting Chair Catherine Jaynes and others with a couple waiting in the wings to start signing underwriting letters.
For Katherine it was transitioning from learning the rules of the Masters Tournament, which she and husband Austin Wyker had attended the day before and learned that cellphones are no-nos.
Then in prepping for the letter signing that was to start Monday at 11, Louise arrived at 9 a.m. No problemo! The gals were old hands at juggling arrangements, so all was perfect as signers arrived throughout the day.
Just one of the day’s highlights was the food that included Teal Griffeth‘s gluten-free muffins. He’s now producing them and other gluten-free items at YumTumDallas.com. Shannon was seen sneaking one in her purse as she exited to work on the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show that she’s chairing at the Meyerson on Tuesday, May 7.
The letters included that Highland Park Village would be returning as the presenting sponsor along with its merchants providing the collection on the runway on Tuesday, October 1, at Brook Hollow. That previous Community Service Awardee Carol Huckin would serve as the honorary chair, and that Kristina Whitcomb would be presented with the 2024 Community Service Award for being “an amazing community leader and supporter of Equest.”
As the co-chairs wrote, “We are incredibly grateful to both [Carol’s and Kristina’s] for their vision, commitment and passion to improve lives through our equine-assisted programs.”
Following the propriety of North Texas fundraising, the letters didn’t drop in snail mail until after Saturday’s Blue Ribbon Ball. Fortunately, tickets are available online now! This event is a traditional sell-out for a champagne-laced reception, raffle, fashion show and seated luncheon. So, don’t bother waiting for the letter to arrive in your snailbox.
