As reported on MySweetCharity, a couple of months ago a fella drove up to Dallas Animal Services to drop off a mom and her kids. A couple on the way into DAS took in two of the youngsters. But the mother and two other youngsters were handed over to DAS.
Long story made a bit longer: Operation Kindness (OK) managed to have the 2½-year-old mother (aka Little Girl) and her kids (Mary and Shelley) transferred to their shelter.

So, what happened to the trio? Mary and Shelley were adopted as their mother recovered from an upper respiratory infection and heart worm issues in the Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing.
This past Saturday morning Little Girl went from unwanted to being the headliner of FOX 4’s “Pet of the Week.”
After viewing the segment, one can’t help but think Little Girl should be renamed Sunshine. She simple dazzles with life. Her coat is looking spectacular and she’s put on a healthy pound or two. Because of that extra weight, she’s 45 lbs., which means there is no adoption fee.
In addition to being spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations, she went on to greet folks at Operation Kindness’ Pet Food Pantry Drive-Thru Saturday after the TV appearance from 8 to 11 a.m., when they distributed food and kitty litter free.
That last word — “free” — and resources like the Pet Food Pantry, the Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing, the 24-Hour Neonatal Kitten Nursery and other programs are only made possible thanks to donations and volunteers. If you have some spare money, donate. If you have some spare time, volunteer. If you need a friend, adopt.
