The 4th of July hasn’t even neared and the Dallas Chi O alumnae are hooting about their annual Chi Omega Christmas Market. 2024 Market Co-Chairs Karen Hunt, Debbie Lang and Nancy Woodall and Steering Chair Lynne Seago have just revealed that there are changes to the tried-and-true arrangements of the past.
Instead of holding it closer to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, it will hold forth on Thursday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Actually, the earlier dates will broaden the breadth of merchandise to include all types of Halloween goodies that you won’t find elsewhere thanks to the “more than 200 handpicked merchants from around the country.”
But don’t be deceived by the name of the fundraiser. In addition to holiday season decorations, toys, food and drinks, there will be jewelry, home decor, both women’s and men’s fashions, football and team spirit gear, linens and original art.
And if you’re used to driving over to Fair Park to fill your SUVs and trunks with merchandise just ready for gift-giving and decorating your home, rethink that drive. Instead of holding the three-shopathon-days at Fair Park, as was the case for years, it’s being moved to Dallas Market Hall on Stemmons Freeway.
The move was necessitated by planned renovations scheduled for the Park.
According to Debbie, “We are so grateful to Fair Park for hosting our Market for so many years and wish them all of the best with the pending renovations and park improvements. We are looking forward to welcoming shoppers to our new home at Dallas Market Hall and to kick off the holiday shopping season this fall in our community. And, while we have changed our dates and location, our mission to support our local beneficiaries and to provide collegiate scholarships remains unchanged.”
Over the past 46 years, the Chi Omega Christmas Market created by the Dallas-Area alumnae has provided more than $10.4M for more than 146 different Dallas-area beneficiaries.
Last year’s fundraiser alone provided $572,000 for After 8 To Educate, Catch Up And Read, Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center, Methodist Health System Foundation, For The love Of The Lake, Hope Cottage, Youth Equipped to Succeed, Make-A-Wish North Texas, My Possibilities, Project Transformation North Texas, Rise Adaptive Sports, 24 Hour Club and Traffick911.
Karen, Debbie and Nancy plan to announce which non-profits will benefit from this year’s days of shopping.
